What does that mean, exactly? Is the drive seen in the BIOS, but not in Windows? Is it even working? Can you access it from a DOS start? Fdisk?
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Does the light light?
Does it go round & round?

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

Boot from a win98 startup floppy and type:
scandisk c:
If that fails, download a diagnostic from the hard drive manufacturer's web site.

Thanks for the quick responses.
I can't find the Slave Drive in DOS.
scandisk didn't find it either.
I'm not sure about the "lights" or "around, around", since its the Slave (secondary)Drive - the Master Drive is giving its lights and going round and round and I can hear it...I don't know how to differentiate between Master/Slave by this criteria?
I don't know how to check via BIOS.
Basically, I had A: (Floppy) C: (Master), D: (Slave) and E: (CD)...Its not reading the D: (Slave), so the CD Drive its reading as D: now.
I don't know why it just stopped reading the original secondary drive?
[Does it help to know that the secondary/slave drive was installed later...but, that was about 5 years ago...and its always worked since.]
Please help

Any error messages? Might help, y'know.
Instructions for setup should be listed onscreen - ASTs were often CTRL-ALT-ESC
Once you've mastered that, see if there is a listing for the slaved drive - if not, not much else matters

Alrite, I checked through BIOS. No luck. Its just not being located. It only shows that machine as having one hard drive.

Ok, well, there's a good chance that it's failed.
You might check the cables & ensure that they are snugly attached, see if the drive is spinning (listen, actually), or try different power or data cables.
You may be able to use the drive manufacturer's diagnostic, although (depending) it may not be able to test an unrecognized drive

Thank you all.
Turns out that one of the cables had detached - i just plugged it back in, and am good to go.
whew!
