Let me apologise if this is not a suitable question for the forum.
I have been trying to find a good site that I can download soothing background type sounds from. Streaming or otherwise. Like trickling water, rain, birdsongs, waves on a beach etc.
We have a grandaughter staying and would like to try playing something quietly to help her sleep. ( She's a four year old.)
Many thanks.

How did you sleep when you were a kid:))) We didn't have computers. When she's tired, she'll sleep.

Try a good FM station in your area with cool music and moderate volume.Kids like it and rapidly go to sleep. The music you are looking for is often called 'Nouvel Age'.Madacy is one of the leaders in this market for CD's with this type of music.

Thank you. Music stuff doesn't work. She's used to the country, beach and so on. We're in the city. Thanks for your consideration.

If she is like most kids her age, she probably falls asleep as soon as the car starts moving when you take her for a ride. When my youngest daughter was still in the crib she was like that. Would NOT go to sleep! I reasoned that it was the vibration of the car that lulled her to sleep. What I did was take a small fan, like a computer fan about 4" square, and drilled a small hole in one of the blades, and screwed a small screw in the hole. I tested it to be sure it didn't self-destruct. I then fashioned a hanger for it, using a coat hanger and hung it under the crib on the springs, and plugged it in. Voila! She slept like a baby, no pun intended. Music or sounds were not needed. Problem solved. Maybe this will help with your granddaughter, ripper. And Grasshopper, the little kid is in a new and (to her) strange place. It may take a little time for her to acclimate. HTH :)

Check out Brookstone hardware. They sell sound machines with replacable sound chips that would work for you. Under $50.

There are "white noise" CD's - ocean waves. bird sounds etc. These should work. I think you will have to buy them over the counter. Good luck
