SiS5597 / Win98 SE video driver

Hi,
I have (what I believe to be) a PC with a SiS5597 chipset. I have tried using the SiS5597 video driver and that didn't work properly so I tried the SiS530 driver that somebody suggested elsewhere on this site. That didn't work well either. When I say they didn't work what I noticed is that not all the modes were available to choose in the display settings and if I choose anything beyond 640/480/16 colours the OS (Win98 SE) would not restart properly.
Just in case it could be a factor my monitor is a Compaq 150.
Thanks for any help that could be thrown my way, Adam.

If you aren't sure what video card you have it may be best to take the case off and look at the chip on the video card. This would give you the manufacturer and model number of the video card.

I have now tried the 5598/620/530 drivers. Each of these has been suggested by one or more people. The 5598 one seems most suited as it is the only one which does not bring up an error message on installation saying something like 'this driver is not designed for your device'. However the OS does crash on startup with the 5598 driver. It has an error which is something like error 0D at 0037:00005603. Anyone know anything about that?
