when i shutdown computer (win 98 se)the windows is shutting down msg'e displays and continues indefinitely to display never actually closing down until i hold the power switch for a few seconds .. then when i start the computer for the next session i get the blue screen saying that because windows was not properly shut down one or more of my disk drives may have a problem and the scan disk utility is run. what could be causing windows to not shut down?..thanks

Download the Win98 shutdown patch from microsoft.com\Win98 section...then follow its installation instructions. GoodLuck!

Go the Help section from the Start bar and type in shutdown. Windows will walk you through several fixes for shutdown problem. I personally had to stop my anti-virus software from scanning A drive during shutdown. That solved my shutdown problem.
