If I try to shut down my system it restarts coz the shut down button works as the restart button. But the restart button works Probably. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my system.

Right click on your desktop, click on properties, click on screensaver, click on power management and change setting to Always On, Shutdown Hard drive 2 hrs, Shutdown Monitor 1 hr. Click ok until back to desktop and try to shutdown. It could just be a Powermanagement thing. Mine did the same thing.

i would strongly advise against rich's sugesstion to set your hdds for a shutdown. in some windows versions this will cause your computer to ignore any attempts to "awake" it from the hibernate status.
