Is there anyway to inject the F4 key as a shortcut key to the following?
[Shell]
Command=
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

I already have the ShowDesktop icon on the taskbar but want to be able to click the F4 key instead of using the mouse and cursor.
Usually you can right click the icon and then click properties and set a shortcut key for the icon. Seeing as the SD icon is a .sfc type it doesn't offer that option.
Thought maybe there was a way to do that.

I guess I should have dug a little deeper. Found this on Google.
Show Desktop is handy when you want to view the desktop but don't want to minimize the half dozen applications currently running. Clicking the icon on the Quick Launch toolbar is easy enough, but maybe you'd prefer a keyboard shortcut to it. Here's how to create one:
Click Show Desktop to minimize all applications.
Right-drag the Show Desktop icon to the desktop and click Create Shortcut(s) Here.
Right-click the shortcut and choose Properties.
Click in the Shortcut Key field and press the shortcut key combination you want to use to activate the Show Desktop script and then click OK.Thanks for the input.

I cannot recommend mapping F4 globally, as this will impact some programs. However, the Windows flag key + D works on 98SE, unless IE is removed via LitePC, and even then, you can still use the Windows flag + M, which is relatively similar. If you don't have the Windows enhanced keys, you can always apply some registry tweaks to remap seldom used keys (like Caps Lock) to the Windows flag key. This is especially handy on older laptops.

"the Windows flag key + D works on 98SE"
It also works with XP...at least it works on the PC I'm currently using (just tried it).

WINKEY-D works on w2k

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.M2

I have been using all the Fkeys except F3 for a long time with no ill effects. I just like to be able click one key to do something I have to do frequently. The only thing is I have to be careful when getting rid of a shortcut icon and to change the shortcut line back to "none" are the Fkey will loose it's ability to function.
