shdocvw.dll version??

Thanks to some help and reading tons of other problems I think I finallly narrowed my problem down to this file. I was damaged by a power outage (I think) and I downloaded another one from the dll.archive. I think that it was the wrong version for IE5 with Win98. The version I have is 4.71.1712.5 but the shdoclc.dll that is related to it is version 5.00.2014.213. Does anyone have a version of 5.0+ of shdocvw.dll or is the one I have the most current. Any help would be appreciated. Ciao P.S. This file is not on my Win 98 cd or any other that I have.
Hi Kevin:Don't know if this is much help to you .....the current version of shdoclc.dll is 5.00.2314.1000....available by downloading ie5 at microsoft. (of course,if you're gonna do that you might as well use that version of IE5 ! )

Thank you Bud. I guess my copy of shdoclc.dll was damaged because it no longer even has a version tab in the Properties. I have two versions of shdocvw.dll as mentioned one old and one new. Would you be able to send me by e-mail a copy of shdoclc.dll version 5.00.2314.1000 so I can get my IE5 browser working again. I tried downloading it at MS but it keeps saying it cannot download all the uninstall files because they are not there now? Thanks in advance. Ciao

This may be a TCP/IP issue. Try re-installing winsock 2.0. You can see these instructions at the following site: http://support.aventail.com/akb/article00249.html I know it solved my problem with a win95 PC.

Hello, if you are looking for version 5.00.2014.213, I HAVE IT!!!!!! (write to me if you want me to send it to you) Standard release of IE5 all have version 5.00.2314.1000, I have it as well. **BUT I AM LOOKING FOR version 5.00.2314.1003 TO FIX MY OWN COMPUTER, SO ANYONE HAVE IT PLEASE SEND IT TO ME!!!! My problems are twofold, first for some reason,i dont know why my system seems to be missing shdoclc.dll whether or not i reinstall internet explorer 5 or 5.1 or not so i had to find a website that had one and download it. YOu see i was having a devil of a time downloading ANYTHING!!. I dont know if that was to blame but now i feel better, plus also i had to install the default version or settings or internet explorer 5. Plus also if someone here could tell me, i got a new version of Shdocvw. but for some reason my system wont allow me to replace it,cause it says something or the old file is in use or something is. But after pressing Ctrl-alt-delete and shutting down damn near everything, it stil wont let me install the new shdocvw.dll So whats wrong if anyone knows and how do i go about it? Plus yes. i still wonder what happened to my shdoclc.dll in the first place to cause it to be missing from my system. PS, are there any updates to Winsock? Thanks a bunch
