I need help, badly... I need to know in which .cab file on the windows installation cd I can find the setupx.dll file?? Thanks, hoping for a answer soon.

If you just want to extract the dll file you can do this through the System File Checker (if that's the file you're missing). If it's not missing, but corrupted, download it and put it in the c:\windows\system folder.

Be advised that system file checker often erroneously shows setupx.dll as corrupt.

Weel, that problem is already solved... Instead, I can't start Windows normally, only in safe mode. I think I'll have to talk to my local PC dealer. Thanks anyway.

My SFC tells me that setupx.dll is corrupt. If it erroneously will show this 1. what is setupx for and how would one know if it was really corrupt or not?

Corrupted Setupx.dll After Installing Windows 98 Second Edition
The information in this article applies to:
Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition

SYMPTOMS
After you install Windows 98 Second Edition, you may be notified by the System File Checker tool (SFC) that the Setupx.dll file is corrupted.
CAUSE
This issue can occur if the verification table that SFC uses is not current.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method:
Update the Verification Table
When the Changed Files dialog box appears, click Update verification information, and then click OK.

Extract a New Setupx.dll File
If you are not sure if the file is actually corrupted, extract a new version of the file from the Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM.

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
MORE INFORMATION
You may also be notified by SFC that the Wltunins.exe file is corrupted. If this occurs, use the resolution described above to resolve this issue.
