setup error (setupx.dll)

While attempting to reinstall 98, I keep getting the error message cannot find file setupx.dll.
same thing for me i need the current version of setupx.dll if someone could tell me where to find it, I would appreciate it.

After having much frustration with this same problem, I found the answer to be very simple. Just go to: http://www.med.unc.edu/wrkunits/syllabus/update.htm Click on: setupx.dll When asked if you want to open or save to disk, just save to floppy disk. Then close all your programs and run your SFC. When the error or corrupted file message appears, click on restore and simply direct your computer to restore from the floppy you save the file to. That's it and it works beautifully.

if your system is up and running i know you can do this. Start\Programs\Accesories\SystemTools\SystemIformation. It will open up a window. Go to your menu bar and go to system file checker. this utility will replenish most corrupted files including setupx.dll

Also the best thing to do when you get the setupx.dll error is to a SFC(system file checker)just extract the file and then select start.After you press start it will ask where you want to restore the file from.You would then point it to your cab files.after you have done that it will want to know where you want to restore the file in.For setupx.dll it is in c:\windows\system.Once all that is done click on o.k.It will then ask you to back up the file(you dont really need to)click on skip file and then it will extract that file and everything will be o.k. Summary: i have my drive formated i tryed to install win95 and win98 i get the same message "setup can not find setupx.dll" how can i fix this??? put the setup of win98 on the hard drive too and installed it.....
