I have a problem that I havent struck before. A pc came in to be fixed with a suspected virus after they were using KAZZA, the anti-virus program they were using was AVG GRISSOFT. So I thought it was a simple format. I fomatted then rebooted with the win98 cd in and booted from that, I get to the first step in that when it starts to copy the files over, gets to 100% then a little black window comes up and makes the machine hang and do nothing, I have had this happened several times. Has anyone any suggestions on what or how to fix?
did you do a completely format for your hard drive?? like delete your partition for your hard drive and create a new one

It sounds like a trojan. I recommend using FDISK /MBR, then reformat. The virus has taken over the Master Boot Record, and it has full control of your hard drive. Until you wipe it out, yopu won't much further. I have been hearing about a lot of these the past few weeks. BY the way, I would stay away from Kazaa. Lots of hackers messing with it. Good luck :)

In the BIOS, disable the Boot Sector Virus Protection, so that you can proceed with the Windows installation.
