Since noone answers posts on this forum that already have one reply, I have to re-ask this.
I am installing a usb joystick (a Thrustmaster Top Gun USB) onto my pc. I install the drivers from the included cd, and then pop in the stick. Windows then tries to install the stick as a human input device. I cannot direct the install to the disk, as thrustmaster claims there is no need to include a *.inf for the 98 install (as windows supposedly has it) and the 85 *.inf won't work.
So I install it as a hid. Then I head over to game controller settings and 'add' a stick. Thrustmaster Top Gun USB rev 2 is on the list (I assume the rev 2 means revision 2 of the drivers). I hit add, and it claims the stick is unplugged. Clicking over to the settings tab, I noticed that the game port driver is set to gameport. However, there are no other choices (usb would be nice).
Things I have tried (ie, you don't need to suggest them)
1. STarting from scratch: resintalling the usb drivers, the stick drivers, the whole lot
2. Trying to force the thrustmaster *.vxd's down windows throat. Windows wants a *inf, which, as I said, I don't have.
3. using the 95 drivers.Any help is apprecieated.

That's not true at all. But after waiting a reasonable time, like you did, it's perfectly ok to post again.
That's a very unusual problem that you have, so it's likely to be difficult to find someone with a solution.
