Hi, On my current PC which is very old, I have One normal mouse which is PS/2, this is plugged into the a serial port with a simple adapter. This works fine and has done for a couple of years. I recently brought a new mouse which is identical except it is a USB mouse. So when I plug it in now it goes from USB into a PS/2 adapter into a Serial adapter. and guess what it does not work. So I started trying other mice which I have. and they did not work either, not even the PS/2 mice. I have no serial mice. any suggestions?

go into safe mode, and into device manager and remove any references to any sort of mice, reboot into normal mode and see if it picks up the mouse then. This has worked for me on several occasions

I think that asking a serial port to control a USB mouse through 2 adapter is too much.
Also not all PD2 mice will work through a serial adapter.
Your best bet is to find a PS2 mouse that is serial compatible with the proper adapter.
