I am currently using Windows XP on a 200GB hard drive. I want to install windows 98 on another partition. I want to create a second primary partition using fdisk, but fdisk won't let me.

You will have to use a third-party disk partitioner such as Partition Magic.

If you have XP installed, and free/unconfigured space then XP will/may allow it (via Disk Adminb tools?)... Otherwise you need either PM or SC, or a similar util.

However... be careful how far (physically) into the drive you place this second ('98 intended) Primary partition. '98 will not boot if the Primary partition in which it (or at least its) boot/start-up files reside is more than 8Gig (physically) into the drive.

Post back with where you intend to place the Primary? It can be positioned ahead of the current XP Primary... and the dual-boot aspect can be achieved without recourse to an add-in boot-manager util.

This whole issue was posted/discussed a little while back; and I have the links somewhere..

I'm thinking Aefdisk will let you do what you want and it's free.
