Just today I can't use search engines. My browser won't go to google. When I try to search at Yahoo or MSM I get no where. In the bar on the bottum it just says detecting proxy settings but won't go anywhere. I can get to all other web sites. Can anyone help?

I downloaded Netscape to see if that would help but when I tried to go to google or other search engines it said "connection refused" Anyone ever experience this?
Almost exactly the same experience happened to me yesterday. can't use any search engines. Running out of ideas as to why!

searchless & fruitless searching, Go to the link below and download the CWShredder file which is available in .zip and .exe format. After you download it run it. You may have picked up a CoolWebSearch variant which can cause problems like you have and the CWShredder very well may solve the problem.
The CWShredder has semi worked! Can now use yahoo and msn search engines but not google!
Although I can search google news and images, Cant' use the normal web search.
Any ideas?

Add me to the list, it just started a few days ago I guess and I'm pulling my hair out......everything seems fine except google, Yahoo (which I assume uses google, can't get hotbot.com either.......so, is this a virus then? is that what you mean by a Cool Web Search Variant?
