I installed an Adaptec UltraSCSI Card 2930 in a Gateway E-4200 to run a Phillips OMNIwriter. The initial boot up screen flashes the following mwssage "SCSI Bios not installed!" The card and the OMNIwriter is recognized in Win98 but the OMNIwriter has problems recognizing disks. How do I install "SCSI Bios" if needed?

First, you may not need the bios installed, but I'm not sure on that. Check the manual for the card for the key code to get into the bios settings for the card. It is usually something like Ctrl-A or sometimes Ctrl-B. Once into the bios setting, you should be able to set the ID of the card to 7 and make the drive 2 or higher, but check the book in case it needs a certain ID. Usually, you will get a message for the card when you boot and that is when you press the keys to get into the bios for it. Hope this helps you. If you need more let me know.

Did you get an install disc, I had to use one to install the Adaptec scuzzy for my Creative Cd writer. You could try Adaptec's website for some answers there

This is how I fixed this problem with a 2920 card. I assume it's the same for the 2930:

1) Hit Ctrl-a when you see the prompt during bootup. This will take you to SCSI-Select.
2) Within SCSI-Select, go to Additional Options: Advanced Configuration Options
3) Select Host Adapter BIOS -- you can toggle between enabled and disabled.
This should fix it. I'm no expert, but e-mail me if you need more info.
