My HP scanner has a "director window" that allows me to interface to the scanner/printer however when bringing up the "director window" I get script errors. If I boot with my backup hard drive the program works fine. Just to be sure I copied the entire program from my backup drive to my primary drive, rebooted with my primary drive and still have the error. So I then tried to bringup the "Director Window" from my backup drive and now I get the script error there, too. So something in my primary drive is not configuring my computer properly when booting. I hope this makes sense! I'm hoping you can get me headed in the right direction. Thanks a mil, Uncle Dewey

Since it worked when I used my backup hard drive I presumed the drivers were okay. Beisdes I'm not sure how to replace the drivers without uninstalling/reinstalling the program.
Uncle Dewey

If you still have the software to hand perhaps uninstall/reinstall would be a good idea (rebooting in between). That way it will reconfigure the scanner and replace the registry entries too.
With some scanners you have to unplug them before installing the software but if you have any instructions available you obviously follow those.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled the program several times with the same result. I now have the exact same copy of the program on both my primary drive and secondary drive. The program works if I make my secondary drive the primary and reboot. I have deduced the problem is not the program, but rather something amiss in my Windows 98 configuration on my orignal primary drive.
Because I have reinstalled the program I also assume the printer drivers are okay and besides the problem occurs before I am ready to scan from the printer. I can use the printer for printing successfully.
Thanks for listening!!! Uncle Dewey

PS: I also get script errors on certain email messages when I open them. I download my Juno email they are actually on my computer when I read them.

Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!! I have felt my problem was in Windows and it was possibly a corrupted file, but......... I did not have a Windows CD so I could reload Windows. What I finally did was boot with my backup drive and then copy all of Windows from that drive to my original C:\ drive. I then rebooted with my orignal C:\ drive and all is well!!!!!!!!
Thanks for bearing with me!!!!! Uncle Dewey

Hey, this is the second time you've fixed your own problems - best way if you can, congrats.
Yep, if you have no CD it is as well to keep a copy on your C drive if you have space.
Thx for update.
