Hello, My new computer is an AMD 1800+, with an Elite K7S5A motherboard. I have 80% free resources and I am using Windows 98. My HP 3400C scanner will not operate on the new computer, although it stills works okay on my old one. The light comes on, and the software is installed okay, but when I try to use the scanner, the 'warming up lamp' message appears and nothing else happens. The USB port is okay as my printer will work in it. I am totally stumped. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Go to the device manager and uninstall it. Shut down and reboot, and try installing it fresh. Sometimes an install gets interrupted and you don't see it. Also run a scandisk before you do this.
