Robert,

I'm not the world's greatest expert, but I
recently had the same problem with my UMAX
Vista S-12. It had my machine goofed up for
days. Then I went to the UMAX web site (www.
umax.com) and right there under their
drivers section was a technical bulliten
and patch for that very problem. I installed
the patch (a zip file that replaces an old
driver) and have not had any problem since.

I have a problem, i have my mouse in com 2, when i install the scaner´s drivers the mouse stop working, but with another mouse in com 1 it works, it is so strange because there are not interruptions conflicts, i think, when the scaner is not instaled but i try to check hardware it detects a mouse ¿¿¿¿¿?????

Estou presisando de drives mais eficiente para poder utilizar meu Scaner melhor, eu tenho dois softer que não tem me ajudado muito o nomes deles são cuneform OCR 3.1 e Recogrita standard 3.2. espero que posam me ajudar pois o scaner não está tendo utilidade.

I have the good scanner Genius ColorPage HR-5 and I probe the operation system Windows 2000 professional.
The scanner is not to able with drivers given with it in a W2k.
If exists drivers for W2k, send me please www.* with the download this drivers!

Maybe I won't be a good welp but I have the same problem and i went to and i went to
www.geniusnet.com and they had a download to fix that problem but when i tried to download my computer brought only 19.6kb of 214kb so it hadn´t any read-me file and i don´t know how to use it, but it´s a start.

I'M SURE THE WAY TO ANSWER YOUR PROBLEMS ANYTHING GOT TO DO WITH VMM32.VXD IS BY GETTING A SOFTWARE KNOWN AS UMAX WHICH CAN BE FOUND AT WWW.UMAX.COM. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS OPEN IT THEN UNZIP UNDER THE WINDOWS DIRECTORY. AFTER THAT GO TO MS-DOS ANE TYPE EDIT SYSTEM.INI. THEN GO TO THE LINE AT
(DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\SMIS11.386) . THEN rewrite it BY ADDING rem FIRST like this
( rem DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\SMIS11.386)and below it type (DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\UMAXIS.386) THEN SAVE IT THEN RESTART THE PC. BUT BE SURE TO UNZIP UNDER WINDOWS DIRECTORY FIRST.
THIS IS HOW I SOLVED MY PROBLEM.

Comprei na Loja "Intel Blaster" da cidade de Americana - SP (19) 468.2365, um scaner GENIUS HR5 com placa scsi incorporado a sua instalação.
Ocorre que agora não instala no novo (???) Win98, travando o micro com a velha mensagem VMM32.VXD !!!!.
A loja madou eu me virar.
Procuro o PROCON, ou jogo esse scaner pela janela ???

for all who have VMM32.VXD problem
delete the following from the system.ini file:
Device=C:\windows\smis11.386
or
Device=c:\windows\umaxis11.386
then save the file and restart the system
