Hi, Im trying to reinstall win95b on a formatted drive, with a boot floppy managed to install cd drivers, but now during win setups initial system scan - my system crashes during scandisk, the surface scan part, i get a runtime error, but it flashes on the screen so quickly thats all I know.

Does anyone know a solution/hints?
Kind Regards,
Brett Mitchell.

run setup.exe like this
setup /im/iq/is/id
this will skip the scandisk

I also have had scandisk problems. They usually occur on a PC with TWO hard drives installed. When scandisk runs, especially on the second drive, it hangs the system. I fixed the problem by setting the BIOS to perform a floppy drive seek at boot time. Otherwise the system will hang during scandisk and the floppy access light will be turned on along with the hard drive access light.

If all the suggestions do not work. Try changing the memory. When you have bad memory (no matter if it's new), Windows vmm32.vxd will scan memory/hardware for errors causing the system to crash. If there's a hardware, windows will fail no matter what. Sometimes, it's the video driver that causes machine to crash and scandisk can not complete its job.
