Hi, I have a Compaq with Windows 98. Whenever I try to run Scandisk it tells me I have another application running. No other program is open and the Close Program box shows only Explorer, Systray, and Scandisk. Can anyone help? Thanks

F8 works if you are fast enough to catch it, otherwise you can simply start the PC and then hold down the left ctrl button until the start menu appears in Win98.
Or turn off your screensaver. If you are on Cable internet then unplug the modem to stop the ping requests from interupting your scandisk and or defrag.
