scandisk locking up

I have a Xplio laptop with a Fugitsu harddrive that I had to reformat. I am trying to load Windows 98 on it and when scandisk runs it gets as far as the fourth test File Structure and locks up at about 7%. I have run the Fugitsu diagnotics program on it and it does not indicate any problems with the hard drive. Any suggestions?

try booting from a floppy and run scandisk from it.

I have done that, but I am still encountering the same problem from the floppy as well. Any other suggestions?

Hi there.

You have spyware interfering with your work.

Download a free version of Adaware 6, (Do a Google search). Run that and delete all that it finds, it is safe and easy to use in default mode.

Once that is done, restart your computer in safe mode and then do your maintenance from there.

It is always best to do it from there as only the bare essentials of windows are loaded.
