Specs: Windows 98
my windows 98 scandisk does not work. it gives an error message not enough memory to run. Windows does not support drives bigger than 8 gig on defrag or scandisk. Is there an update for this?

98 does support scandisk and defrag on drives larger than 8 gig. That shouldn't be a problem at all.

How much ram do you have and what CPU? How large a hard drive do you have?

Run in Safe Mode or goto Start>Run, type "msconfig" (no Quotes) hit Enter. On the Startup Tab, uncheck everything but scanreg, then reboot and run Defrag followed by scandisk- thorough.

Return to msconfig and re-check only what needs to be running at startup.

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.
