I just reinstalled my sound blaster live 5.1 x-gamer's drivers. on the driver install i get an error about devcon32.dll. then whenever i boot into windows it hangs or gives me an error about that dll. Ive read all the posts and have determined that only creative can come up with a complete solution. Ive been screwing with this problem for several days and finally figured out a, but not the, solution. first i uninstalled (or at least tried to) the remanents of sblive 5.1 drivers. then i copied version 642 of devcon32.dll (i downloaded that) into c:\windows\system. then I installed the drivers off the cd like normal, and just ignored the devcon32 error. i then copied ver 642 of devcon32.dll into c:\windows\system\ again. now i have sound, but when i use creative's mixer i get a few crashes, one about the mixer app and devcon32, and one about ct10k1dg.dll. is there an older version of ct10k1dg.dll that would work? my ver is 1.1.1.0.

I don't know if this is much help but ... I don't have a soundblaster card and my system does not have the devcon32.dll file. That indicates to me that it's not a standard Windows file and should be installed by the soundblaster software. Why it isn't doing this is a good question.

Hi

I have just started to get this error with complete freezes at startup (which it fails to load Windows98SE), and the only way to shutdown is to switch the power off, only for it to occur next time you try to boot up. After 3 or 4 attempts, Windows will boot and the problem won't show itself until restarting. Has anyone found out what causes this problem and how to cure it? I get the error message about MSGSRV32 caused an illegal operation in DEVCON32.dll.

Mark

I have the same problem with the MSGSRV32 error. Do any of you have an AST all-in-wonder card? I was reading somewhere that that is the reason for this error. Apperently what you have to do is uninstall both cards, then install the sblive card first and then the AST.I did that once and it worked for about a month, then I got that error back. To get rid of that error, go and disable the creative SB live series drive. That will get rid of the error, but unfortunatly it gets rid of the sound.

Hi !

I had the same problem with devcon32.dll.
I solved it with an old version of the dll.
For a long time it worked fine, but two days ago I tried to use the mixer & I got a new error about the ctsurmix and ct10k1e.dll & again devcon32.dll.

Does anyone know how to solve the problem? .
TIA.

I've got the same problem. Has anyone can help me ? I think I haven't got the good driver too. In the offical site of soundblaster, I can't download the driver for soundblaster live 5.1 series beacause it is not available.
Thank you for your help.
