I have installed a Sound Blaster AWE 32 pnp (ISA) on a motherboard with a Celeron 366 overclocked at 412MHz (75x5.5).
The problem is that when the system boots a message error appears: "Can't load synthgm.sbk" and a continuous noise is heard. If I disable the midi, the message error does not appear and even the noise is not present, but if I play a wave file it is very distorted and I can't also listen to audio cd.
Do you think the audio board doesn't like the frequency of the overcloccked bus at 75MHz instead of 66MHz?
What you can advice me to do?

Thanks so much.

Yes, you are overclocking the PCI bus beyond what the old ISA cards can handle.

Can I setup something (for example in the bios) to lower the frequency only on the ISA bus or can I do something else?

Do you think a Sound Blaster pci128 could work on this motherboard with bus at 75MHz?

And the AWE32 on ISA slot could work on another motherboard with a Pentium II 450 with bus at 100MHz not overclocked?

Please answer, thanks a lot.

Look in the BIOS setup. You may be able to set the ISA bus speed as several different fractions of the PCI bus speed. My mobo allows this. In any case, the AWE32 should work OK at the faster speed. I had no trouble with mine at 75MHz.
