Just curious if there was any freeware out there to help with a messed up 3.5" floppy. Would love to save a couple really small files on there. The disk as of right now reads a few of the files but can't find any of the others. Windows shows that about 100Kb are taken up (by looking at a: icon in My computer), but the files it shows only add up to about 5K, so I hope the other files are still there somewhere. Any advice is appreciated!

If you know anyone with Norton System Works (Norton Unerase prog) they should be able to help you.

Otherwise, I think there are proggies out there that do this, so maybe someone will give you a link.

Hi Alotau, Derek, hi everyone

Not trying to be a wise-guy, but haven't you noticed the animated add on right side at the top?
Orange colored box, reading Data Recovery Software. It blinks with Free Download, Do it yourself for, Hard drives, Floppies, and so on.

I've been reading the information on the site and it looks promising, haven't taken the time to play with yet.
Maybe you'll be able to tell us, later on, if they come true.

Best Regards,
The Count

Aha, now that's a nice one.

It just shows the downside of having a closed mind to all adverts.

I used the "Software Updates" link on this page to search for some shareware and it worked great (called R-Undelete). Will need to get the license for it now! I actually have Norton stuff running and don't see any of the ads you guys are talking about, maybe I have it blocked (moreso than just in my mind!). Thanks for the responses...

There is a free utility called "Flopshow" at:
http://paradiseprogramming.tripod.com/flopshow.html

That is supposed to help recover data from "messed up" floppies.
