This is one even my tech has never seen. My computer will not go INTO safe mode. When "safe mode" is selected after pressing F8, the machine simply grinds away, frozen, and never goes anywhere. A hard boot is required to shake it back into action. Has anyone had (and dealt with) a similar situation? Thanks!

Howdy, Well yes I have seen computer's that won't go into safe mode. If it will start normaly it could be anything for a real mode driver problem to a hardware problem the list is to great to go on. Why are you trying to start in safe mode anyway? If the computer is having problems booting normaly into windows 9.x and it won't start in safe mode you might have some serious problems. If your tech can't figure it out, maybe you should try another tech. The only way I can help you is with more details.
Laters,

Same problem here with Safe Mode..running Windows 98..turn on computer normally..then..I have 7 options..I select Safe Mode (F5..Option 3) and then the computer beeps and begins to start up again...this is a round robin affect!! I try the Emerg Start Up disk, but when I type A:\fdisk...then I am really lost since I am clueless what choices to pick! All my puter tech does is ask "Anything worthwhile Saving?" NO..so he just dumps everything and rebuilds then installs Windows 98!! This is getting costly and its beginning to really upset me since I can't find any simple books that tell me what HE does!!

my computer will not go out of safe mode...every time i boot up, it starts in safe mode...can anyone help me with this problem?
