Where can I get updated drivers for S3 ViRGE-DX/GX PCI (375/385) Rev. Date 4/23/1999. I need it for Windows 98 NOT 95. Searches yield the old win 95 driver. Please Help
I am trying to upgrade my son's Compaq Deskpro to run Roller Coaster Tycoon. The program starts to comeup and returns to Windows Desktop.

Driver date of 4-23-99 would be the generic SE drivers from the 98 cd. It's unlikely you'll find newer ones as there's no motivation for the manufacturer to keep up with an old card. Also 95/98/9x drivers are all going to work the same. Do a google search for 's3 375/385 drivers' (not in quotes) for links to other versions of the drivers. This is one result of that search:
However you won't find any with a more recent date.

Also, I'm not familiar with that game but your problem could be you need to upgrade directX or that you simply need a card with more memory. I imagine that card only has 4 meg or less on it.
Check the specs for the game to make sure you have the minimum requirements.

go to www.s3graphics.com for the latest driver, but believe it is the same as one on W98SE. Upgrade to DirectX9 that may help, or buy a newer Graphics card can get 8MB for £ 15 !
