Direct X 6.1 does not recgonize the correct drivers for this video cars. I cannot run any games using DirectDraw as a result. Using the Direct X diagnostic tool for testing DirectDraw shows that it works. Any suggestions?

Sorry but S3 has no plans to further develop the reference drivers for the Trio 3D chipset. Your current chipset is older generation and will not support the state of the art graphics languages, like Direct X 6.1.


PS.Although S3 cannot support drivers made by others... you also could look around the internet gaming sites for patches or other hacked drivers made by gamers for just such a situation. Try a search based on the game's name and the chipset you have on one of the search engines. Sites such as s3.dimension3d.com s3content.com and 3dgaming.com could probably help you.


PS. if your game requires DirectX 6.0 the reference drivers for your chipset will not support it and you will have to find them from the video board maker. There is no plan to write DirectX 6.0 supporting reference drivers for your chipset

PS.
You can uninstall the DirectX 6.0 Drivers and reinstall the DirectX drivers that were compatible with your video card.

We recommend that if you wish to enjoy the latest software that you use the latest technology, like a video card based on the Savage 3D Chipset.

We have found one that you can order a Savage 3D based board online for $60 bucks, the least expensive we have seen.

and, I do not know what's wrong with it.

I have a S3 Trio3D card which seems to be faulty. Whenever I enable D3D hardward acceleration when playing games, my system hangs. So after some trials, I used Tweakbios ver. 1.53b to change the card's latency timer from 64 to 32, and my system seldom hangs when playing d3d games. So where's the problem? My motherboard(ECS P5VP-a+) or the S3 Trio card.?

I had the same problem (when i enabled D3D in a game, my computer, suddenly hanged up)
I also have a VIA-MVP3 motherboard and i think the problem is because the drivers have bugs.
If you have the same MB what you should do is changing the motherboard's drivers with those of VIA-VP3
(i don't know where to find them, i found them on the motherbord's cd)
...Anytime i reinstall my Windows the problem appears again ...
....try to see if there aren't conflicts with the other devices in your computer (irq, resources...) ..my computer\control panel\system\video card...
...even if you resolve the problem you won't be happy because this card has weak performances in D3d ... ( but GTA2 runs pretty good )
...if anyone has another answer, please e-mail to me...
...i know my english sucks but anyway, i hope that this will be helpfull to somebody..

Come on people. the internet is for more than
gaming and porn. There are a lot of at least
moderately useful search engines out there.
I found the answers and drivers I needed in
less than 20 minutes time. Really folks, it
can be fun searching. I bought a cd-changer
that the folks I bought it from assured me
couldn't be run under windows 98 no way no
how. Turns out there was a quadraplegic who
had a system built for him that used that
particular changer (SQ-TC510N) in '98. So
do a little work and there are benifits.
P.S.
Even the manufacturer said it wouldn't work! Shows what you can do if you look
around a bit.

Umm i have a trio 3d, i want to play 'kingin' it tells me hardware device not found!is it because need a betta graphic card? i was wondering if i could possibly run it in 680x400 would this make any difference?? plz help
