Comment:
When booting I get the message "Run-time error 40006. Wrong protocol or connection state for the requested transaction or request" I then close the error message box and everything seems to be ok. What causes this message? I did a google search but that didn't help.

I don't know what caused you that error at startup when you were not trying to connect to a network. My suggestion would be to do a thorough Virus Scan using online scanner like Panda or HouseCall to rule out a virus /worm /trojan followed by scanning to remove any Adwares using Ad-aware. M
