Comment:
When I run MSCONFIG.exe I get a window with several check boxes in it. How do I add a check box, edit a check box, or delete a check box?

MSCONFIG is a system configuration utility. Be careful what you add or take away from there. To add stuff to them just click edit when it will let you. Unless you are having problems, like, booting up or something, i wouldnt uncheck anything from system.ini or win.ini. for the config.sys and autoexec.sys, you can edit those by clicking Start, then Run, and type sysconfig. The boxes that are checked in the startup tab of msconfig are the programs that are set to run at startup. I hope this was at least a little help. If not...sorry.

if you put something in your startup folde it gets added to msconfig.
you delete the boxes by doing a search within Regedit on "Run-" and "Runservices-". That will locate the unchecked boxes for you to delete. Also delete the hidden folder "disabled startup items"

These check boxes are created by Windows at the behest of the installed programs and the clever manupulations by the Programmers who make them, to gain a foot hold on the 'prime real estate' of Startup. We cannot easily add a Check box
We can only unseat them by 'deselecting' them via Start>Run>MSCONFIG> in Open>OK> Startup> Uncheck>Apply>OK>Restart and if permanent removal from the Hard Disk is decided: Start>Settings> Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs> Uninstall and/ or REGEDIT
Summary: Msconfig.exe will run in WIN 95. Get a copy from any '98 system and just place in your C:\Windows\System folder and double click to activate. Persoanlly I like StartupCop better. It's at: http://www.z...
