Comment:
Why WIN 98 reports "Device doesn't work properly", even I have installed the original drivers for RTL 8029(AS)? There are no conflicts reported! Can anyone help me to fix the problem?

Here's what works for me. Try using the generic driver like "NE2000". If you have another empty slot for the NIC move it there. If this still doesn't work remove all Network software (i.e. protocol, NIC, Clients for Mircosoft network). Then shut down and remove card. Reboot without card. Shutdown again. Install card & all network software.

This out of left field I had the same problem with Ethernet. I had to get updated driver for motherboard AGP support and irq steering support. Maybe an idea maybe not.
