This is really annoying and this problem came out of nowhere.

I am running Win98 and now whenever I start up I get an error box that says RPCSS caused some error somewhere. I can get you more details if you need it.

I tried using Safe Mode and it boots but everytime it does it gives and error that Explorer caused some error in 0000:00438f3a.

So basically I cannot do anything. I try loading Help or Find and it freezes up. System Info and System Config Utility works, though. Anyways, there is my problem.

Should I try and reinstall Win98 over this Win98 I have? How would I do that? I have the Win98 CD by me.

Thanks.

Some error somewhere does rather broaden the field at little to much. We really need the details such as ProgramX has caused an invalid page fault in module XXXX.dll or fatal exception has occured in vredir.vxd for example. Or check this website for a gigantic list of known error messages by category.

Run Regedit

Browse to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OLE

and look for the string:
EnableRemoteConnect
and give it a value of N.
