I have just got a router from my sister, we no it works for she was using it. We are trying to set it up here, I thought all we needed to do was plug it in... but its not picking anything up. Is there something else I need to do or change on this computer?

Assuming that the connections are correct, you might have to run internet setup wizard and when prompted , select I connect to Internet through a LAN. Hope this helps.

You may have to clone you computers net
card's MAC address. Does you connection
work with the computer that originally was
connected to the cable modem?

Connect your router to your modem and your computers to your router. Then turn everything off and unplug your cable modem.
After about five minutes, plug the modem back in after all the lights on the modem stop blinking and it says it's online power up your router. After the router is on, then turn on your computers, one at a time and see if they are online.
