My friend gave me his rollercoaster tycoon 2 cd. It worked when he had it, but I discovered a big scratch that ka-putted the cd. Is it legal to ask someone for the folder on the scratched portion of the disk, and burn a new one as long as I kept the original? And if so, can someone send me the folder? The setup quits at css14.dat. (and a couple other I tried to open after that were corrupted). And I think it said something about data2.cab. I can't remember for sure since I can't get on my laptop right now. (my desktop's CD drives aren't working) I don't know if that's legal, but it makes sense in my head.

Clean the CD (washing up liquid under tap works quite well). If, as I suspect, this doesn't help then look for a freebie called ISO buster.

With this you have a fighting chance of reproducing the CD in a folder on the HD. If it looks good you then burn the stuff from the HD onto a new CD, so that it looks like the original. OK if it isn't copy protected.

Maybe someone has the folder/file but if this is a game (which I assume) then the games forum might be a good place to ask. No comment on legalities.
