"Microsft Visual c++ Runtime Library
Program: c:\windows\explorer.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way."

Any feedback is greatly appreciated

Have you tryied reinstalling the VB 6 runtime files?
Secondly, have you tried a over the top install of 98?

I would suggest a format/install of win98. You might have some garbage left over from XP.

I would like to transfer/backup my media library before I attempt anything that may be damaging. The only option I have available to me at this time is to transfer the media via internet to my desktop computer. I'm fairly new to this whole computer thing so I am lost as to the procedures for granting and gaining access through the internet. Furthermore, after downloading the the B6 runtime files do I need to uninstall or delete the old runtime files? Thanks again for your attention

No, you just need to run the update file.

'Transferring. . .via internet' may work for a large amount of data when the two computers are far apart. If they're in the same house you could probably set up a network connection between them. Or transfer with removeable media--cd-r, zip disks, usb drives, etc.

Updating/installing the runtime files will NOT damage or erase you data you have on the harddrive.
No you dont need to remove anything before running it.

The VB-6 runtime files install was a success. No more error messages. Thank you all for your advise.
