Ok, this started happening yesterday for apparently no reason.

Many times, when I right click on something in My Documents or My Computer or anywhere except on the net, I get EXPLORER has caused an error in GLINT.DRV and then it closes explorer then it comes back as it usually does, followed by EXPLORER has caused an error in USER.exe and the same thing happens. This happens about 90% of the time now. The only thing I did recently is install Avast antivirus after uninstalling McAfee from my system. What can I do? I do not want to change virusscanners again. This problem persists despite restarts. I had no problems on my Win ME laptop when using Avast.

Also, Glint.drv is the AccelGraphics Windows 95 Mini Display Driver which is my display driver program

Try this, it might help, but I'm no computer "expert".

Ok, I ran SFC and found nothing wrong. Does anyone else have any suggestions? This is really annoying! Also, it only seems to start happening after about 10 mins on the system.

Here is a pic of it.

Also, note the fact that the windows logo icon and the "x" are missing. Is this significant? I can post the entry from the FAULTLOG if neccessary.

So nobody has any suggestions? This problem won't go away on it's own. I would like to have a solution to it besides run SFC or restore the registry which both options won't do it for me.

Ok guys/gals. No offense here but I really need a solution to this. Basically, I've figured out what's causing the problem. It's that little blue circle with the a in it for the avast program in the right click menu. Is there a way to remove this? I'm guessing through the registry but I'm hoping to remove only the icon, not the program entry. That's the first thing to NOT show up on the menu before I get the error. The other options like "open with..." "winzip" and such will load but not that one then the error pops up.

Also, I tried the suggestion on
http://www.es.com/support/realimage/star_ii/general_protection_fault.htm

But that only made things worse. I couldn't find accel3d.inf when I tried to revert back to my old driver on my system so I was stuck with 640 x 480 with 16 colors until I found an alternative driver on the gateway website for Win 98 and now the error still persists and it's worse. Now if I right click, I get that "white box" error now in addition to the illegal op error both for Explorer and yes, still for GLINT.DRV.
