Comment:

I recently ran a virus scan on my Windows 98 based PC. I found an invisible folder on the HD called _Restore/Temp with over 29000 files with names like A1149650.cpy. Can anyone tell me what these files are for?

I had upgraded to Window ME previously but I have reverted back to 98 and everything seems to be working fine. I wonder if this was left over from ME.
Thanks

I just checked my restore temp in win me and found the same files so its a pretty safe bet they are leftovers and are not needed.

When you upgraded to winME you were asked if backups were to be made incase you wanted to revert back to win98. That is what those files are.
