Comment: Hello. I have this problem with win98. Whenever i want to restart in ms-dos mode under the option Start->Shutdown->Restart in MS-DOS Mode, i have a "breakdown" or "hang" in dos. What happens is that dos just hangs...there is a "command input line" blinking. Just like as a normal dos mode, but i can't enter any command or type any letter. All i did was just press the restart button on my PC. However, i could run MS-DOS in windows. My PC Specs: PII400Mhz 320MB RAM 54Gb Hard Disk Space 32Mb Video Card Window 98 What is the problem? NOTE: My windows runs fine and smooth. Thank you for replying & reading!

Reply: (edit)Check your dosstart.bat file, I think it's in c:\windows, or c:\windows\command. Whenever you restart in DOS mode, it loads whatever might be in dosstart.bat. You may have something in there that doesn't exist anymore, but the machine is trying to load it. Either delete the lines, or place a REM at the beginning so they are passed over.

Reply: (edit)thanx, it works now! I've editted the dosstart.bat in notepad, just added REM line to those which i assume might cause the problem. Thanx to both of ya!
