There are 2 known types so far known.This is from a program called 'FileExt' :
CSV (1) Comma Separated Value; Used by Microsoft Excel (among others) CSV Palette; CompuShow
This little help file lists hundreds of File Extensions so far used in the Cyber world, try opening it in 'wordpad' or 'notepad' but it just might show jibberish.

You can also open CSV files with Notepad. I think they are ASCII files so you could write a Basic program to read them too.
