With the age of your computer you might be limited to 32GB. Whilst this can be overcome with overlay software, this is an inefficient way of way of doing things. I'd stick to a 40GB drive and if your bios only recognised 32GB, that will be enough.

Check the ads in the sunday paper for drives on sale or rebated. That's usually the best deal. As Rimfire says you may have problems with the bios seeing a large drive but a bios upgrade or drive overlay will get around that.

You can save yourself a lot of trouble by adding the new drive as a second drive instead of replacing your current drive.
