Replace NTFS with Win98

Comment:

Previously I had dual boot Win98 (C:) and WinNT4.0 (D:, NTFS). I formatted D: to get rid of NT from C: but when I wanted to remove the NT partition using FDISK, probably the FDISK doesn't recognize NTFS. How can I remove the NTFS partition so that I may let Win98 take over the space formerly used by NT's partition? (I don't want dual boot anymore and want to let my whole hard disk used by Win98, yes a must)

I backed up everything already and don't care about disk content anymore :)

In detail, in FDISK I couldn't delete the 'Extended Partition' although the "Logical Partition" has been deleted. I tried every kind of deletion already in FDISK and so I suspect fdisk doesn't recognize the former NTFS partition format.

I have a second computer installed with Windows ME....is there any tool that I can employ to recover that NTFS space for my first machine?

Many thanks,

Eric K.H. Lee

Narg,

My NTFS partition content is gone prior to fdisk!! i.e. I don't have anything in hard disk, but the partitions of both NTFS and Win98 are still there....how can I merge them into one single Win98 Partition?! I cannot remove WinNT

I don't think you can merg them, but i don't use nt that much.
Try the nt forum, if that does not work or you don't get a result. Use the if all else fails measure: format, if that does not work low-level format and start again.

Dave, Thanks a lot. I think it works.
It's really a helpful tool from NT 3.51 that works for the Millennium!
