Is the cable connected into the monitor? If so this makes it a bit tougher. You have to completely sever the cable and buy a new connector for the end. Then retrace your old one for each wire to find which leads where (also note there are jumpers involved inside which make things even worse). If not then this is easy, just buy it from mwave.com or something. hth

Yep, aint so easy but you might be able to find a drawing of the pin layout online if the connector doesnt inlcude one. Try your local compusa or PC shop. Depending on your monitors age you might be better off getting a new one as these cables run about $30.00 or so. http://tomshardware.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=146098/search=15in%2520Monitor/ut=43c38c13be1421d1

I think one of the pins is supposed to be missing. The female connection holds 15 holes but the male counterpart only has 14 pins to put in.

I put female/male "Gender Changers" on the ends of my monitor cables so that I wouldn't have to deal with this problem again. I frequently swap monitor connections when I'm working on different computers or if I want to see what my print server is up to. Those pins bend and break pretty easily and I've gone through a lot of "Gender Changers".
