Comment:

I recently did a wipe and installed win98se. I've installed an Inland PCI-USB2.0 card with a Via Tech 3038 chipset. I also installed the included drivers. Now whenever, I reboot I get a "found new hardware" dialog for the USB card. After cancelling out of the dialog and checking the dev. mgr. I can see that the usb card is working okay. How can I get rid of the "found new hardware" dialog every time I startup?

Could it be conflicting with your on-board USB? If so you may need to disable it in cmos.

Try Via Tech or Microsoft for patch I've heard of problems with Via Tech boards this includes motherboards with onboard Via Tech USB.

I wiped the drive and started over. The USB card seems to be working fine now with no continuous "found new hardware" dialogs at startup. Don't know why that fixed it but thanks for the suggestions.
