just install 98 right over 95, you don't need to remove 95

why don't you just do an upgrade install and you shouldn't loose the drivers , otherwise you could do a clean install and download all of the drivers you need from this compaq site http://www.compaq.com/support/files/index.html

You can use a full-version Win98 CD to upgrade from Win95 by going into C:\Windows & renaming win.com to something like win.bak. Then install Win98 as normal, but if setup suggests a folder such as C:\Windows.000, redirect it to C:\Windows (assuming that this is the directory where Win95 currently resides.

Just right click on the folder or file and choose rename.
In dos use the REN command:
ren win.com win.bak

I think a have the same compaq presario 2200. Windows 98 will install. If possible save your drivers. CPU is Cyrix MediaGX which is CPU + Video. 2 meg shared video. The Compaq site has drivers for video and audio for Win 95.
