While visitng a website I right-clicked on am image and choose "save as wallpaper". Now, I can't get rid of it. My new wallpaper is simply loaded on top of the old one! What's up with that?

You need to select display properties, and select wallpaper 'none'. then disable your active desktop. then go to dispaly props again and chose wallpaper 'none'. now you've got rid of that wallppr you hate so much. then set your active desktop on and chose whatever wallppr you want.
a nice day.

You might use this method next time to save a wallpaper.
Save Image For Wallpaper
Open MSPaint and paste in the image from where you stored it.
Save it as a BMP file.
Put the new BMP into C:\Windows folder, and it will be available as a wallpaper in Display. You might have to change color settings. I set mine at 24 and it came out fine. The advantage of doing it this way instead of right clicking image and saving as wallpaper is that it will be on the display menu permanently If you do a save as wallpaper it will go away when you change to another selection.

The "Save as wallpaper" function on IE simply takes the picture you've selected and saves it as a file in the windows directory called "Internet Explorer Wallpaper.bmp" It only uses this one file, so every time you "save as wallpaper" in IE, it overwrites the old file with the new picture. If you wish to save a wallpaper picture more safely, simply rename the file, then go back and choose it as your wallpaper in your display settings.

Do a "search" or "find" on "wallpaper". When you find the location of "Internet Explorer Wallpaper.bmp" just delete that file. It's gone until you create another by right clicking an image and choosing "set as wallpaper".
