Go into password in control panel to make sure the PC is configured for only one user. Then use find files to find *.pwl and delete all files found. When windows restarts it may ask you for a username and password. If it does, just supply the user name and no password , hit enter.

search for *.pwl and rename it to .bak
reboot and when prompted for a password
leave it blank and hit ok.
you will have to re-enter your dial-up password,
when connecting to the internet the 1st time.

To get rid of the Windows password, click on: START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL | PASSWORDS | CHANGE WINDOWS PASSWORDS.
Make sure there are no check marks in any boxes that come up and click on OKAY. It will ask for the OLD PASSWORD, NEW PASSWORD and CONFIRM NEW PASSWORD. Type in your old password, but leave both NEW PASSWORD and CONFIRM NEW PASSWORD blank. This will stop Windows from asking you for the password every time you log on.

Download TweakUI (freeware). It's a tiny program that fixes a lot of other annoying things too.

After you download it, unzip it and right click on the .inf file to install it.

If you want Tweakui you can download @ www.surecool.com/download.htm
It has several features that you will take advantage of, especially the repair tab options.
As to removing the logon box that provision isn't in Tweakui but you can set it to auto logon if you like.

Here is a registry fix that disables password asking:
Delete the key \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion \Network\Real Mode Net\AutoLogon=. (Where is a series of digits.) This forces the computer to provide a login screen at boot up.
and
Added the key \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Network\DisablePwdCaching=1. This prevents the computer from creating a “Windows password”.
