A friend gave me their old PC ,and on the taskbar it says LOG ON Rosalin. I was wondering how to remove the name from the task bar .I've already deleted the pwl. files ,and reconfigured the PC so it does not have the logon prompt when booting up .What I need to know is how to get the name off the taskbar . If I can do it thru the registry ,directions please. I have edited the registry B/4, unless there is another way to remove the name in the tasbar and start menu settings ? Thanks NicRic

Similarly you could run regedit,navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Network\Logon and in the right column, right click on 'user name'. Choose 'Modify' from the box that opens and change the name to whatever you want.
