remove icon from systray

Start/Run/type MSconfig then click on Ok Go to Startup tab and uncheck the box of lines you recognize as unwanted icons like Real Player or others!

Brian, Frenchie is correct. (He usually IS!)
The offending program often has a setting that can be unchecked to remove the icon also. Some of them just keep reappearing every time that you reboot, unless you disable this feature within the program. Look in the "Options" of the program.

Hi Brian, Right click on the Task Bar, click Properties,click Customize, click on Hide when inactive, choose always hide. And it's done. Bob

Dave and Frenchie are both correct.
Best way is through msconfig|startup.
Even after doing so Programs such as Real Player will place themselves back into the start-up next time the program is ran.
