How do you remove documents from the start menu? I've tried the program startmenu.exe from Richard 2000 but it won't work in Windows 98SE. Can editing the registry remove it? The documents folder from the start menu annoys me, I want to get rid of it!

If you have TweakUI installed, look on IE tab.

Click Start, Settings, Taskbar and Start Menu, Tab for Start Menu Programs, Document Menu, Clear. Easy moves.

Pico- Here is a registry tweak that will also do want you want:

Remove Recent Documents from the Start Menu

I don't usually chastize people for bad advice, but I'm going to make an exception..

To Sam: Right-clicking and deleting DOES NOT work for everything. You cannot right click the main folders in the Start Menu (Documents, Settings, Search, etc.), so please test these things out first before posting them.

To Clyde: Please read the original post again. He wants to COMPLETELY REMOVE the Documents folder from the Start Menu, not simply clear it out. Your steps are correct for clearing the Recent Documents folder, but that was not the question posted.

Sorry Brent, still half asleep when I read the post, and an obvious error on my part.
