I would like to know if I reinstall my windows 98 se will it get rid of the spyware that I have. Everytime I get online I get pop ups then some of the pop ups have a trojan and it installs something on my computer and I have adaware and mcaffe virus protection but all it does is removes some of it but if I run it again it finds more I cannot get rid of what ever I have. Could some one let me know if this would solve my problem and if so could I get a short description on how to install windows 98 se I have the 98 se disc. I am not too good with installing it and how to answer the drivers questions and stuff. Please help me . Thanks

there should be other ways to get rid of your spyware and other stuff, will let others tell you.
If you want to reinstall win98 it will depend on what win98cd you have. Is it a MS win98 or a restore win98 from DEll ?
If you do a clean install of win98 you will loose ALL items unless you save them on cd or some where beside the hdd. You may want to save your Address Book, Bookmarks, received email, important documents, photos ect.

If your CD is a MS98 then getting all the drivers for mobord, modom, sound can be a real pain :(

If you do a clean install, that is formatting the drive and then installing windows, it will get rid of the spyware because formatting will get rid of everything. But as TopFarmer indicates, that's rather drastic.

If you do an over the top reinstallation it probably won't get rid of your spyware.

You might want to try hijackthis and then have the log analyzed here:
